Get Things Done with Outlook 2007
May 10, 2007
I start reading the Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity book and doing some research online about GTD. I love the concept which is really common sense (at least to me) and in one way or another I have been doing that all along. Anyhow, I needed to implement GTD using software, so I researched a ton of software out there but couldn’t find something that does what I need. Since I use Outlook 2007 and windows mobile, something that syncs with outlook will be ideal but I was open to other software as well.
At the end, I decided to use Outlook on the desktop and Agenda One on my phone; but I changed the way I use it. I created more categories e.g. “dev”, “personal”, “fun”, etc… and start categorizing my appointments and my tasks. The first thing I do in the morning is go through them and reorganize them based on what I think I can finish that day. So far, it’s working great and I love the look and feel of it. Take a look at this screen shot and tell me that’s not good eye candy.

Here is a useful review of the hundreds of GTD software out there http://www.atpm.com/13.02/next-actions.shtml
What do you think of Outlook and GTD? Do you prefer a different application? Any recommendations?
